meta name="viewport" content="width=320"> Coccidosis

One of the Protozoa's that affects our pigeons is coccidiosis.
. A small single cell life form that is larger than bacteria but not so large that it can be seen with the naked eye.
The eukaryote that mostly affect our pigeons is Elimeria columbae because pigeons are its natural host.
With the exception of just a few protozoa they are species specific. In other words your pigeons should not get them from your dog or cat.

I am not going to go into detail at this time but I do want you know that pigeons do contract this disease and will be a carrier for life.
It is very important that you be aware of the disease and learn how to cure it.

If you do take the time to learn about this disease and getting the cocci count down. Is one sure way to get yourself on the first page of the race sheet.
If you fly fancy pigeons they will breed and fly much better.
